2/28/13

Today we continued to work on the square bot. We tightened most of the screws and setup the logic system. We then proceeded to toggle through all the settings until the robot turned on and responded to functions provided by the controller. A problem was apparent with one of the motors or the entire brain in general. The instant it turned on it would begin to rotate without the function being imputed. We will have to remove that motor and place another in its place next class.

2/26/13

Today we continued to construct the robot as well as work on the Solid works model of it. We tested out the batteries to make sure the functioned properly and put them in the appropriate positions. We also placed the wheels on but had to then remove them to fix a problem with the gears. The problem was a few of the screws we had used to keep the gears in place would hit the chassis and stop the gears from continuing to move. Instead we chose to try to put more clutches to keep it in place as the ones we had lacked threaded screws.

2/22/12

By the end of the week we have constructed most of the square bot.  The entire metal framework (chassis and bars) has been put in place and screwed where necessary. The same goes for the gears as they are in place although not completely stable yet.  The Rf receiver is also screwed in place but the components of the logic system (micro controller module) have yet to be put in. Also the wheels have not been placed on the bars yet and will be the last part other than making sure the batteries work.

The first thing vex robot related that we did was go over all of the power points that were made to completely understand the different components and functions of the robot. Then we began to take inventory of all the parts we would need to put the robot together. We searched for numerous screws, wheels, batteries, gears, and other components needed to construct the square bot. After collecting all the parts we needed to begin we placed them all in a box for storage. Also we began to charge the batteries for the controller and robot so when we need them they wouldn’t be empty.
